follow up to vortec manifold
I Read in the GM performance catalog that the cast iron cylinder head will fit the subject matter and fit all small blocks from 1955 to present. part number 12558060. It does say however that it requires the use of self aligning rocker arms. Can I use the two in combonation on L03 305 engine?
i know you can use the heads and the manifold on a lo3 but im not sure about the rocker question...the heads are 64cc chambers and the 305 is 58cc so youll loose compression unless you get the heads milled...heard the drop isnt that bad tho...also world products sells a torquer 305 head for 300$ each that are complete and 58cc...also with those you dont have to have the special manifold

You can get them assembled from SDPC $218 a piece, with the ****ty springs. Add those Kmotion springs for $60 and you're rockin. They have the whole kit (heads, rockers, edelbrock manifold, bolts, gaskets) for $720 (arrrg, went up again.)
SDPC offers the vortec heads with upgraded springs good to .525 lift for 299.50ea. This is a great flowing head and come with an excellent valve job. As has been mentioned, your CR will drop slightly and the heads do not have EGR so you will have to plumb external to the exhaust if you want EGR.

if i switch to carb i may get the vortec heads and manifold and not worry about the EGR.... or if i would get a custom chip or something...i dont know i may get the vortec so i can swap it over to a 350 if i desire
