How many mods with stock chip
How many mods with stock chip please help
This project is on an 88 5.7 Suburban 4x4 TBI. I know it's not a 3rd Gen, but you guys should know if anyone on the net knows.
I am ready to re-install my engine as soon as the headers come back from being ceramic coated. I started with a new 350 4bolt main from GM, installed a crane computer compatible cam 204/214@ .050" hydraulic flat tappet, Trick flow 23 deg. aluminum heads, edelbrock TBI performer intake, and edelbrock TES headers. My compression is 9.0 to 1.
I am trying to decide now which TBI unit to go with. The 670 CFM Holley with spacer so it will fit the Edelbrock or to go with the Turbo City 1-13/16" with matched injectors and spacer. Any one used both? Or any experience in how the two compare? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh yeah, My original question was to be, Will the stock computer be able to handle these mods. I need to know because when I start it the first time I need to run it for about 30 minutes @ about 2000 rpm to break in the cam properly. The battery has been disconnected for a while so I believe the computer will start using the default parameters. I contacted the black echo when I started this project but had not made some of the final decisions at that time and now don't know how to get back in contact to get his opinion.
Any help you guys can give me, please do.
Thanks in advance, Raymond

Holley 670
The 502-6 Unit is designed for 5.7 Liter truck motors. It should be fine.
Try calling Holley and asking them about what you are doing. I'm sure you will be ready to go with the Holley.

Driving for me....
I drive over a lot of mountains, and that is what killed my 305 engine in the first place. I had to get a strong motor for the kind of roads I drive.
It works well, and does the job. Not all of us drive 1/4 mile at a time. It's nice to have the power to climb over the mountain passes without pushing the engine past it's limits. TBI was important for my needs, for the change in elevation is quite dramatic actually.
It's also kind of cool to have that power and not lose it when you're passing uphill too!
