i searched "tbi spacers" and got all useless stuff. so why not have a poll so that when newbies or guys like myself want to know about them the just search "happy with tbi spacer"

I've read the increase low and mid range torque and give a little more gas mileage

I don't have one but I have heard mixed things about them. Some people say they are great for final "tuning" of a car, others are saying they noticed a difference. But then you got some that say they dont do much for a basically a stock car. If I could buy it try it then return if I didnt like it I prolly would have tried one by now.

How much do they run now? I tell ya what, I would find one used or make ur own before u buy one cause I think they run around 80 bucks right? I selected no just because the hp to $$$ ratio wasn't good. Find one used for around 40 bucks tops and maybe that would be a better deal. But it only add MAYBE 5hp and a little bit of tq. Every little bit counts in the end but, thats up to u.

Spacer
I would say mine was done more due to necessity rather than a "performance" mod. I don't really know if it did anything to be honest, but after installing it, I was able to hook up my EGR valve to my Holley/Weiand setup. Mine was custom made for me by DC Water Jet out here in Las Vegas. I supplied the template for them. (Yes it is 2" bore.) Any thickness you want can be made by them, and since they have the template they can make thousands of them now. It does work fine, but as far as a "performance" improvement, I don't know.
If you don't need a spacer, I don't see any reason to have one, to be honest. But if you need one for some accessory or something, I'd get one.
Like I said, you might want to give them a call.
The gaskets you need for the Holley are the 508-11, for the 2" bore. I ordered mine, it took a few days to get them.
It was worth it to me, for I had an issue.
If anything it might have given the engine 5 HP at most. I did not feel anything substantial from it.

I think they are a complete waste of money altogether. No matter how high the TBI sits it isn't going to make that intake manifold flow any better. And as far as port velocity its the same deal, the manifold is the restriction. I had a Helix Power tower and all it did was kinda whistle adn require me to readjust my TV cable, thats all. A spacer is more of a tuning device for racing engines where they require the powerband to be moved either up or down depending upon track conditions. They are another useless gadget that is a waste of money like the Tornado.

I suggest learning about what exactly it is a spacer does to understand if its worth it or not. Its probably been explained a billion times on thecarburetor board and TBI is similar enough go have a look foryourself

To continue on what Pablo was saying, definatly read about carb spacers and what their funtion is. I haven't done much reading about spacers only because my car doesn't have the room for it . I can't exactly cut out any more of my underhood bracing and considering I'm already running a drop base air cleaner there is just no way right now that I'd even consider a spacer.
One thing that is being over looked is the actual volume being added to the plenum. A larger spacer gives the engine more air and fuel mixture to draw from. This is commenly overlooked. A couple general rules from the carb would; a single plane is more sensitive to plenum volume changes than a dual plane (some exceptions), and more plenum volume the less cfm the TB needs to flow (wet AND dry flow systems). For example, a 350hp 350 with a single plane intake will be able to run a smaller carb so long as they use a larger spacer. Also take notice to the Ram Jet 502 motor that uses a stock L98 TPI throttle body on an engine that makes huge power on the dyno. So you can see that cfm ratings on both wet flow and dry flow are only just a part of the big picture. When, not if, I go to a larger cam you can bet I'll be playing with spacers. I just want to see how much power I can squeeze out of this holley 670 TB. A hot cam and Victor jr intake are the foundation but I'll bet the motor will want more plenum volume since the 670 is a little on the small side for having to support ~420hp .
