ok, I know this stuff has been covered but I just want some basic info, no major explanations. thanks...

ok, switch to carb? intake and carb? or is more needed? chip? ok

porting heads, i have an L03, is it worth it on the stock heads and what should I look to pay?

if i stick with the tbi what intake should I go with for a good bang for the buck and easy install???

and shift kit, decent shifts, I don't want whiplash but some stiffer shifts is needed, which should I get and how much is it?

I just want everyones opinions about any or all of these points of interest, and lets try not to argue. thanks a bundle

Cody

What have you done already? How many miles do you have on the 305? Do you plan on a bigger engine anytime soon? Open element, gears, posi, aluminum driveshaft is a good start.

Fuel injection is better than carburetion. Carbs are easier than EFI, though. With extensive modification you will have to tune the chip. I couldn't get mine tuned up with the TBI system so I went to carb.

If you switch to carb, you'll have to swap out quite a few parts. There's a pretty good article in the Tech Central section of this site.

Don't bother porting the stock heads and certainly don't pay anybody to do it for you.

why not port them, cuz I'm doing the lt1 cam swap in a couple of weeks and was thinking about getting the heads ported while I'm at it. why is it not worth my time or money??? are they that bad???

where can I get a set of decent heads really cheap??? I can't afford upwards of 500 - 1000 for heads, are there any other options???

thanks a bundle guys

You could maybe eliminate the swirl block right before the intake valve and maybe see a big improvement, but it's a lot easier, if you go cheap, to get a set of LG4/L69/LB9 heads (they're all the same from my hands on experience) and port those guys. The L03 heads can be worked over to perform, but its gonna cost a lot more than picking up a set of the above heads cheap.

Extra money?

Here...let me give you my address. If I can have it all in 20s and 50s that would be great in unmarked bills of course.
