Yeah thats prolly too much duration for the stock chip, heads and intake. What's the LSA on the cam?

It's not too big..... If you want to go carb.

Other people have said that you can tune for big cams in the L03 by using a wide band O2 sensor and extensive dyno chip tuning.
Seeing as I'm way too lazy to learn how to burn chip after chip in conjunction with dyno testing, I think you should run it, and tell us how it works.

I think it will put the 305 on its face with the swirl port heads and wimpy exhaust system.

I don't think the stock heads would handle that lift anyway.

But to answer your original question, yes I think it would be WAY too big.

What makes a cam to big for our engines? Is it the Dur @.050 or is it the Lift?I know if the cam is to big you wont be able to tune the ecm.Is it possible to take an ecm from a 350 TBI truck and tune it.Has anyone ever don that? Thanks again for all the replys.

It's the valve duration that makes it too big for an engine, even if it doesnt have a computer. The duration has to be closely matched to the intake and head combination and cubic inches

Well it also depends on what heads/intake you are going with. Lets say u go with the torquer heads and holley intake, then the max duration I would go with would be around 230* @ .050" before its overkill. You obviously know that you will have to burn a custom chip for a bigger cam.
