the engine mark just described is the LM-1 engine. This is also what I have. And yes the stock cam in that engine tosses the F'in salad. Those hp/tq numbers are a little higher than the real world application.

Mark, I could swear that the heads have 76cc chambers! Maybe I'm wrong but I'll look into it.

Those are the correct CC, TPI might produce a little more power, go with the Comp 268XE

he just installed the tpi on his old engine onto the new 350. Intakes and all will bolt right up. With that setup (tpi like lower rpms) I wouldn't go higher than a 470 lift at .050 and 226 dur at .050. Hp.....a lot over stock. With the proper exhuast system and engine fully tuned expect a good 30 hp just from the cam at least. Beware you are going to be sacrificing torque for this Hp. You will also need a higher stall torque converter

There ain't NO stock l98 that has more torque, than a properly preped one with a ex268. I've had to adjust the tv cable, to get shorter 1st gear shifts just to get some traction. Right now I have a 342 open rear, and it'll smoke BOTH tires if you go from a dead stop. Even a stock l98 will benefit from a higher stall converter.

What the hell are you talking about. The l98 was never in the conversation was it??

Note I said the LM-1 will have more torque stock than with a high lift cam such as the one I stated. Because of the low compression, higher lift, longer duration, and higher rise intake the torque is sacrificed.

Who really cares about spinning your tires. I mean really. If your going to prove me wrong then at least act like you know what your talking about.

When did I state anything about the ex268???

A cam change on an otherwise stock 8.5:1 comp. engine with dish pistons and crap 72 cc heads the torque WILL be sacrificed. We were never talking about an l98. I never said otherwise about the torque being better.

And yes a higher stall converter would help even a stock l98. Again I never said otherwise. We weren't talking about l98s.
