Dude.

(1) when asking for advice, don't slam the advice before you get it.

(2) if you want to go fast, a 350 IS better than a 305. Can you still go fast with a 305? Of course. Is it going to be easier to go fast with the 350? Of course. Bigger motors make bigger power.

(3) 13's is not a difficult target. If you know "all that **** about small blocs" why are you asking us?

(4) there are several fast 305's on thirdgen, did you do a search?

Oh, and I'll even answer your question!

Q: wht i the quikest way o reack the13's in a 90 305 RS.
A: NOS.

If you think a 350 isnt better you couldnt be farther from the truth. I have an 87 IROC with a 350 and my friend has a 90 RS. Both are slightly modified and I can blow his doors off. Remember this, there is no replacement for displacement

Run the 1/8th mile, you might be able to run a 13.

Well, let's see, first there is full exhaust about $500, I'd say get some Edelbrock or Hooker headers and a Hooker cat-back.
Then get a comp cam figure about another $140.
I think you'll need new heads, I hear the stock TBI heads were junk. Looking at another $600 or so.
Get a some 3:42s or 3:73s another $300. Higher stall TC if it's an auto. Another $300 or so. That all right there might might get you into the 13s, I don't know anything about TBI but I'm sure you would have to do some mods to it, chip and what not.

You don't want a 350, than buy a Mustang!!! J/K Your probably looking towards forced induction, Nitrous or lots of head and intake, and cam work!!! Good luck!

for all that work to put a TBI economy motor into the 13's you could build a 12 second or better 350. No offense to you guys with 305's i've had one in the past. But we all know there's no replacement for displacement and a chevy 350 is definitly cheap enough to build up. $2,500 put the chevy hi-performance mag's L98 car into the 12's. That's with the cost of the shortblock and all. $2,500 will get you 13's? Yes..but why waste money?

yea but if you say togo with a 350 why stop there if there is n relacemnt for displacemnt then y not go with a 400 or even step u to the big block. but anyways we have a 5 speed in there now it is supose to hande a good 300 lb ft i think so i cant go with anything ta will destoy the trany on a test run. but thanks guys

so gears, heads(vortec) or what?, cam, (what duration do yo sugest?), exhuast (what brands are better?)

True why not go bigger? Go price a 400 small block buildup or a big block build up. We're talking affordable displacement not a $5000 project motor. If you're satisfied with 13's I'd still get a 350. You'd spend a hell of alot less getting a 350 into the 13's than a 305 TBI. And the tranny would still most likely hold up.

This is probably more due to tpi vs tbi than 305 vs 350.

That T5 will get you into the 13s easily without breaking.

Actually that's a good idea, get a '88 or so 5spd and stock it'll be a 14.6 car or so. Throw on headers, X Pipe, take the 4 cats off, and change the gears, 13 second car.

I love Stangs too.

Course I would love to get another notchback one, those tend to be a little quicker.

The damn notchbacks look nearly exactly like a Chrysler K-car for crying out loud. I'd have to have a GT...

Then a point can be made that a GT looks like an Escort

Though I like the looks of them too.

Mark, I was looking up to you, man. Now I'm discouraged. My hero "love stangs too."..................J/K. Mark is right though. A comp cams XE268 cam, port and pollished 1.94/1.50 heads, 1.6 roller rockers, decent 1-5/8 headers, good cat-back exhaust, and a 3.42 rear end. A chip will help also.

13's...no problem. If you know how to shift. Just don't blow the trans.

How much more practical is it for a 305 TPI to get into 13's than the TBI? Mine is TPI and I'm just curious....

#1:
*L98 Aluminum Vete heads-$550
*Comp camps xtreme energy Roller-$240
*350 TBI injectors-$???

*Sphon SFC's-$190
*Sphon panhard rod-$110
*BMR LCA's-$150
*TC(2800stall)
this combo should do 14.0-13.5(with a good driver)
choice#2
*Used LT1 cam-$60
*Ultimate TBi mods-free(see tech artilces)
*same suspension mods as above-$450
*NOS TBI 100 shot-$540

what combination of heads, cam is the best on TPI???

im looking into buying a 350 4bolt block bored .030 over, for putting my TPI on, i wont be running stock inj. or tpi base, runners, or plenum, i was wondering a good combination of head's and cam and roller rocker's to top it off, and i want to run at least mid 13's but 12's would be good too
Thanks -Don
