HEI problems

Hey, lets see if someone can help me with this one. ive got a 1987 with a 383. one day my i went to my car to start it...it cranked and cranked with no start. ok no problem, ive been a technician for quite some time now, sounds like no spark. so i check for spark and obviously there was none. Its got power to the coil. ok so i pulll the dist. off. and check everything out. coils got the right ohms everything seems to be connected correct. dumfounded i put it back together and it fires right up. ok, so maybe i missed something and i put it back correct again. a few days later it shut off on the highway?? i take the dist. apart and reassemble on the shoulder. it fires right up. i then went and picked up a new cap and rotor. works fine for a few weeks...then it happens again. im kind pissed now so i went and brought a whole new dist., cap rotor, new coil(i was running a accel supercoil, i got the same one again), wires, and plugs....a whole new ignition. for months it didnt happen, so i figured it was a bent or loose shaft shaking the crap out of the dist. if you didnt guess already it happened again? any input? the whole damn setup is new? the wires run straight from the battery with no resistor could the coil not like a full 14 or so volts? It kinda hurts when your a technician and you cant fix your own car.

You didn't mention the ignition module, did you replace that as well?

Sounds to me like a bad connection in your custom wiring somewhere.
