Bad hesitation

Hey guys, This has been happening for some time, but its slowly getting worse. Basically all thats happening is that its hesitating when it accelerates. I checked the timing and its off pretty bad, but could that be it? Theres no vacuum leaks anywhere, Ive checked all the hoses that are visible. And what type of advance do I have in my car? Its a 89 v-6.

If you're timing is off, it's going to make the car run like crap.

Yeah but the timing gets wierd only when its at idle and its cold. When it warms up the timings fine.

no its a standard. It seems like a electrical problem to me. I checked the fuel lines and changed the filter. My fuel pump was changed last year and so was my O2 sensor. I checked all my plugs and wires along with my distributor. I do need to get a new rotor and cap though. Wheres the advance on the car though?

Do you mean idle, not timing?

I had the same problem on my car, it got narrowed down to an air or fuel problem. I changed the fuel filter and it was running fine.

I really think he's referring to the idle not timing. Cause he says it's fine when warm, but not cold.

I checked the timing with a timing light. And both the idle and the timing are messed up. The timing goes wacky when its cold but when its warm its normal, or closer to normal. And when its idleing when its cold sometimes it will go down to 500 rpms and almost stall but then goes back up to normal. And also when its idleing it idles really rough untill it gets warm. But this whole thing only happens maybe half the time I drive it. Maybe a little more. Sometimes the car runs perfectly fine without hesitation or anything.
