what the hell did this guy do??HELP!!!

Ok there is this tube that goes to the cat. This hose someway snapped in half and the owner befroe me just put a rubber tube and connected the 2 broken metal tubes. The tube is all cracked and busted up so I got a new tube and put 2 hose clamps to hold it in place. My question is is this tube goto the egr valve? And would this tube not being hooked up effect performance?? This guy that ownered this car f*cked it up.

the tube should go to the air pump and is part of the emissions system, when the engine is warm the system uses this tube to inject air into the cat. I have been running my car without the tube for about a year now and havent noticed any performance problems, I do not have emissions testing though.

I don't have any emission test either but my iroc has seem to get slower and I found the tube was completely off so I was hoping this was why the car didn't seem to accelarte like it use to. but I guess Its not.

as a side note, you might as well take the smog pump off as well. look under the technical articles for a good guide on how to do it.

If you still have the original style three-way cat, you really should keep the air supply tube connected to help complete the conversion in the second stage of the cat and prevent possible clogging. If you have a newer mono-bed cat, it may not even have a connection for the aair supply tube.
