Horror story...or is it? (sorry for the length)
I recently bought a :hail: 1989 GTA w/ a 3.8 turbo swap (TRW pistons, Turbonetics turbo, polished rods, forged crank, cold air intake) w/ a bulletproofed 200-r4 tranny and a dana rear w/ 3.73's. I test drive it,c ar feels fine, no knocks or anything. Guy wants $2700 so i think i am getttin a steal. Seems like an honest enough guy tells me that he startd his own business and needs to part w/ his baby b/c he needs to pay off a loan. So i buy the car and it gets 3 miles b4 it shuts off
...no oil pressure...so i get it home and call him ad tell him im gonna change the oil b/c car hasnt been used in 8 months and ill get back to him. Change the oil (note thats its really thick) and same thing, car warms up and loses oil pressure. Call him and tell him. I tell him im gonna try the ol pressure sending unit. Change it and now i get 60 psi instead of 40 when i start it but i get the drop off agian. Call him and tell him im gonna see if its the oil pump...if any1 who reads this has ever changed that pump, u know what i went through...note tha casing for oil pump is scarred so i finally thought i found the problem...nope does it again. Now i notice alot of knocking though... hmmmmm...Call guy and tell him about that and that im gonnna bring it to a shop. Get it there, friend at shop says connecting rods as soon as i get there and he hears it...after a week and a half my engine finally gets taken apart and the crank is hot and i need to have the block heat tanked. So now myr epair bill is $1600 and now im pissed. |Turns out the guy ran nOS through the engine before it was broken in and wrecked everything or he ran it through and whoever built the engine didnt do it right. I found out that the cause of the thick oil was that he used gear oil to cover up knocking
(trick i didnt know about). So i call the guyand he says he will buy the car back after i get it fixed and i tell him no way. The engine shop guy tells me the engine is worth 8,000 so definitly think this is worth gettin fixed(still a steal @ $4300)...now my next question is...How should i go about revenge? LOL
-Im gonna post pics as soon as she comnes back to life.-

Revenge? For what? For getting a $8000 car for $2700?
Rule 1 of buying a used car: never believe a single word out of the mouth of the seller of a used car, unless you can see it with your own eyes.
Rule 2 of buying a used car: if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
Personally, it sounds to me like you got a good bit more than you actually paid for. Not a bad deal at all, really. Put a crank kit in the motor and enjoy it, or sell it for $8000 and make a $4000 profit after all your expenses.
