car runs COLD

Hi guys. My 87 l98 IROC runs about 135-140 degrees going down the hiway. The way the oil cooler return line is routed, the cooling system never is blocked completely by the thermostat, and it wont get close to the 180 degrees it should. In town, or sitting, it will heat up, but not on the highway. Is this a problem, im worried it wont go into closed loop correctly, and also, it wont get hot enuf to run efficiently. thanks

I would check to make sure your gauge is reading correctly.

i think the gauge is pretty accurate, as i have the stock chip in it right now, and the fans turn on and off pretty close to where they should. the computer uses a different sensor than the gauge, so they are close.

If it was actually running at 260*,I wouldn't be able to drive it very far.
