NOS with a Carb?

It may be a dumb question but every single nitrous application that I have heard about or have seen on TV (Horsepower TV, Crank and Chrome, Popular Hot Rodding) or anything are all fuel injected. Never heard of a application with a carb?

Is it possible, does it cost more, is it harder to hook up?

Yep, it's possible. Check in jegs or summit, they sell a kit rather cheap for q-jet or holley carbs. You might get more info on the power adder board.

There are plenty of nitrous kits for carbs... and the work argueably better. Less sensors to fry with the high nitrogen. The basic system throws a plate with a crosswise bar between the Carb and the intake manifold, similar to fuel injection kits. The more complicated units plumb the manifold like efi and have 8 seperate nitrous injectors. You can add almost 250 hp with the plate, and too much with the direct port...

Are you planning an upgrade?

i ain't sure if I am planning a upgrade.....i was thinking about it but then the other viewpoint is why would I need the power. I will be using my car as a daily driver, it may also have been cool just to have nitrous there.

I might look into it but I don't have any money now until I go lobstering at the beginning of July.

Right now my 84 is put up and getting ready for a paint job, i got my 350 out and I am building it up now. Hopefully by the end of July she will be back on the road

If it's your daily driver, you can run the nitrous at the track. Besides, the word in New Jersey is that if you're pulled over, and the nitrous bottle is connected to the system with the valve open, they impound your car. (Keep in mind that a policeman probably can't tell the difference between an open valve and a closed valve, so it's probably much safer to disconnect the bottle from the system completely.)

And I recently heard this: Say you're going to the track, and you've got the nitrous bottle disconnected, in the back seat. Supposedly, if a cop decides to, they can give you a free ride to the station because you're transporting a "controlled substance". Is that some crap or what? Although, I assume that's only for somebody that's harassing the cop.

It would be neat to have your friends go "what's that switch for?"

..."oh, that's the hyperdrive".....

Since when is nitrous a controlled substance? I thought you could get the bottle filled at any speed shop. If it is controlled, then wouldn't that be illegal? Damn, i'm glad I live in Florida!!!

And yes, they do make nitrous for carb applications..just got my "christmas catalogues" in the mail last week (Summit and Jegs), and the NO2 sections are filled with carb applications, ranging from $250-$700.

How would I go abouts getting the Jegs and Summit catalogs. Are they free?

$250 dollars for a cheap nitrous application. That would be cool. I can afford that when I am making $300 to 400 dollars a day. Gotta love lobstering.

You can get the jeg's catalogue at www.jegs.com and I think it's www.summitracing.com for summit. Just fill out the forms and they'll mail it to ya.

thanx a lot i just signed up....hey if you guys ever get the magazine "Chevy High Performance" then you have probably already seen it but in there they have two catalogs strictly for Camaro

1. Price: Free Next Generation ; call 1-800-921-9214 and give them your information and you will be given a free catalog...it is cool

2. Price: $5 Classic Industries ; call 1-888-GM-CATALOG or 800-854-1280 to order it....i think you may need a credit card or you could ask for a adress and send a money order

anyways if you already knew or didn't i just thought that I would throw that out there
