cam choice

Buying a new cam and want an opinion on what to get of these two.
(The car is emissions checked)

Should I get the comp cams 12-234-2 or the edelbrock cam for my 305 lg4.The edelbrock set says not to use the stock timing gear, mine is new and don't want to replace it.

Edelbrock is : dur@50, intake-204, ex-214. lift intake 420, ex 442

comp is: dur@50, intake-212, ex-218. lift in-447, ex-454.

Thanks

I put in a Summit copy of the Edelbrock performer cam and a set of Flowteck shorty headers, and I'm very happy with the results.
It has a nice idle and pulls strong to 5500 rpm. I've wound it out to 6000 a couple of times but the gains were not worth the stress being put on the motor. I'm sure it would improve even more if I had a better cat and cat back exhaust.

you dont need a special timing chain with the edelbrock cam, i installed one in my 79 z28 and used a stock chain. worked great.
Excellent cam, i was very happy with it.

I ordered a summit 1102 which is a clone of the edelbrock performer cam for my vette, cost 71 dollars showed up yesterday. I planning on adding some 1.6 rockers. Im looking for big torque numbers 5000rpm shift point, to compliment the crossfire intake.

advertised duration is I:262 E:272, these arent listed in the catalog, the ramps are rather steep, more so than the edelbrock, i noticed this right away.

Whats your goals? I chose to build my engine around the intakes flow and trannies shift points, so the lower duration is perfect for me.

Will these cams affect my emissions very much? I have to already buy the performer with egr and sell my regular performer because of emissions failure.
