Need help identifying cam...
Need help identifying cam...
W/ my firebird i recently bought, the previous owner gave me all the extra parts he collected over the years (almost enough for another car
) and in one of the boxes was a camshaft. He said he didn't know what it was (got it from a friend), so i need help in identifying what it is...
On the very end of the cam it says "Crane 2030" and "16-01-91" which was ground in by hand. Between the first two lobes the following numbers have been stamped "109346" "35860" and "9012A".
I am guessing the 109346 is the part number, but im not sure about the other 2 series. I checked the crane web page, specifically for any cam w/ "2030" and it directed me towards their Powermax series.... strange thing is that the 109346 doesn't match any numbers on their pages. I am not sure if it is even a Crane cam, but am going by what was etched into the cam. If anybody could help me i'd greatly appreciate it.
Or if its at all possible for me to measure the cam myself, if someone could tell me how... my dad has a bunch of calipers and other crap I could use.
Thanks.

I looked at all mys tuff to. That part # doesn't exist dude. Try calling crane.
Degreeing a cam is kinda a pain in the ***. Most likely its a 100.00 cam anyway, and prolly not worth it. If its not roller, you'd need new lifters too - which would make even more sense to buy a complete cam kit.

Well, heres what I found out:
Chrane Part #114122
Grind # COMPUCAM 2030
For 81-87 V8 267-350
Cam Lift-Int = .282 w/1.5 = .423
Exh = .297 w/1.5 = .446
Dueration @ .050 Int = 204 Exh = 214
Int = -8/32
Exh = 37/-3
LSA = 110 deg.
Deg. Adv. = -0-

Well, if he has a 305 this cam might have a slite lope at idle but the int dur. @ .050 is only 204 deg. so this cam would be ok. Now if he has a 350 the idle would be good.
