Jet Fan switch part #60600 where to put it?

Hi Guys

So I bought the switch and I know you guys say to put it on the passenger side head but low and behold there is no place there for it to go. I have a 1986 Iroc-Z TPI 350 that was a 305 with a single fan. Where do you put this switch? The drivers side head has the temp switch. My fan stopped working a year ago so i decided to hook it up direct but now i want to put this switch in. Please help.

Thanks, Jamie James

Front of the intake manifold, there are 2 pieces there, coolant temp sensor and fan switch.

Don't really remember but the replacement switch should look like the stock one, also the connectors won't be the same on the sensor and switch, so whichever one hooks up to your new switch is the right one.

Woah woah woah, not on an 86. The one on the left front of the intake manifold (when looking at it from the front) is the cold-start switch (a purple and a tan wire). The one on the right is the coolant temperature sensor (a yellow and a black wire).

The TPI single fan is controlled by the ECM. The way to change it's activation temperature is through the PROM.

You can either send the switch back and get your money back, or install it anyway and use it to control the secondary fan if/when you install dual fans.

My bad, he is correct. The best place to put it would be back in the vendor's stock, since you don't have a place to put it on your RH head.

As usual thanks

Okay but the problem I am having is that my fan will not come
on at all anymore. so what do i do now. I have hooked up a direct switch but sometimes I forget to turn it on. So what do
I replace?

By the Way

Anyone want to buy a JET Fan Switch part number 60600 not used.

Are you guys absolutely positive this will not work?

Does your car enter closed loop idle? Make sure you are getting closed loop. If not, check the resistance vs temp on the coolant temp sensor, if it fails...replace it.

Temp in Deg F Resistance

210....................185
160....................450
100....................1800
70.....................3400
40.....................7500
20.....................13500
0......................25000
-40.....................100700

If it passes, check the fan relay.

Morley,

Here's the whole table if you want to cut-n-paste it (everyone else does):

And the arrangement of the sensors on the front of the intake on an '86:

Or you could do as I did and wire the switch in as an auxilliary. I used an Autometer switch, since the sensing face is flat and doesn't impede coolant flow:
