need help fast!!!

ok im gonna put new lifters in today, this means i gotta take out my distributor, the question is, once i take it out, can i drop it back in in the same position, im not gonna be turning the motor while its apart, i just need to know if i can drop the distributor straight down and will it go in place. answer fast please cause like i said im doing it today

Most people can drop the dist right back in, not sure if you can or not. The key is clearly marking both the position of the dist housing and the rotor before you remove it.
