RPM at idle unstable and gears slipping

Hi,

First of all im from sweden so my english isnt the best.. but i will try anyway. otherwise you swedish probably sux

I have a 305TPI, TH350, 87 and here is my problems:

1. At idle speed, the rpm goes up and down all time and its really irritating. Its feels very unstable and when I have a gear in the car chakes. Sometimes the car dies becouse low RPM. Any idees?

2. some days ago when I was driving the change between second and third gear didn't change before 4500 RPM and it have been this way since then. why??

And when I hit the gas I got a slow response, it toke about one 1 sec or 1000RPM more before the car responded . This problem got worser and yesterday the car goes REALLY SLOW at high RPM. Its slipping on all gears! But the reverse work great, no problem there. Is it the clutches that are bad? are they easy to change? How many $$$ do they cost in USA?

The car has worked great for 2 years no problem at all, but in the last 2 weeks the generator, ignition module and distrubuter cap has failed and been replaced.
I hope some of you have some idees what my problems could be.. Thanks

Hi!

If you would like to have some help on swedish- go to www.tacs.nu and forums.

Otherwise try do a IAC cleaning and adjust TPS and idle speed.

Check the KD wire for the shiftnig problem.

Figge,
When was the last time the car had a tune up(replaced spark plugs, wires, fuel filter)? A stumble off of idle could just be because the car needs some new spark plugs, or a new fuel filter, or perhaps even and oxygen sensor. Oxygen sensor failure can cause a rough idle, as can a vacuum leak. For the shifting problem I would also check the adjustment of the kickdown cable.

Generators have not been commonly used since a while back, what you should have in your car is an alternator. Alternators produce ac (alternating current), which is convereted to dc (direct current) by a rectifier. Generators produced direct current, but were heavier, created less energy, and wore out faster.

Thanks for your replys.. i found the problems now...

Them idle speed problem was do to a vacum leak.. I found a glitching cable that I put in place and now the idle speed is stable..

The gearbox is broken, the oil smells burned m.m. Luckely I found a Th700 box that is prep for racing and with a corvette turbin. And i got it sheap so im lucky, I was already planning to change my 350 box..so actually this was perfect.. I will put it in on monday I hope it will go really good after the change...

See you guys!!!!!

Make sure to hook up the TCC connector to the 700 unless it has a non lock-up torque converter.
