Sounds like the secondaries on the carb are cracked open. Make sure the linkage is ok. Make sure the primaries aren't open either. If you think it's the electric choke unplug it.

i checked the carb, just after i started the car and the rpm's were starting to rocket up, both the primary and secondarys were closed.. now as far as checking linkage on the carb.. what should i look for.. it looks to be all hooked up proper.. the only thing i can see that mite not be tight is a line that feeds into the back of the carb, same kinna line that you have for fuel.. i losened that to get the carb higher for the spacer to fit under.. not i tightened that line a little, but not quite as tight as it was before... anyone know what that line is and if it would cause my problem..?

I believe that line goes to your power brake booster and is a vacuum line. you may want to disconnect the throttle linkage comming from the gas peddle and try that, also try disconnecting the possitive battery cable for a few minutes then reconnect it and try that (assuming its a computer controlled carb), I'm not sure that a vacuum leak would cause the problem but it can't hurt to check all the vacuum line going to the carb and make sure they're tight and in place.

well i tryed unpluging the battery for a bit and the trottle linkage.. didn't help.. the sound it makes is a weird boging sound now and a little black is actually coming out of the exhaust... is it possble that i could knocked out the idle or mixture settings? or maybe the spacer is blocking something..?

is it possible that when you were moving things around you turned your distributor accidently, you may want to try checking your timing.
