oil pressure vs RPM

Alot of people keep saying you need 10psi of oil pressure for every 1000rpm.I want to spin my motor to 6000rpm safely so do I need 60psi or is 45-50psi OK?Also if I need 60psi what pump/spring combo should I use?

45-50 psi ought to be just fine. pump i use for 90% of the engines i do is a standard melling m55 with a mr. gasket #26 spring in it. for sure you don't want a high volumn pump when you're spinning a engine that fast with a factory oil pan.

What ede said...

I use that identical combo in most motors I build too, it's good for around 55 psi above 2000 RPM and around 35 at idle, plenty of pump for a strong-running street motor.
