HELP! Chugging\Surging

89' IROC 5.7 TPI

leans out when holding a hgh steady rpm. o2 sensor transistions stick, shows 6 grams air flow, idles very rough and "surges" up about 1000 rpm randomly (like once a minute). Replaced both MAF relays, checked MAF - ok. Replaced fuel filter with known good one.
It just recently blew an intake gasket due to overheating\too much pressure which has been repaired (both overheating problem and intake gaskets). It WAS sending code 36 but stayed clear when the maf relays were replaced.

The repair book says if you remove the maf it should run rich but it stays lean.
I'm not the mechanic, so this info is a little wanting I know, sorry. dyno don is workin on this for me but he's never seen this before and is pullin his hair out too, and no one knows that we've talked to so far.

If you think you've seen this before or know of a solution but need more info please email me or post here so I can get the info. Any help greatly appreciated!
