Anyone who has done a V6 to V8 swap, and/or an auto to manual swap. Questions.
For V6 to V8... more specifically, LB8 to LG4.. keeping the LG4 computer (for now).
Any problems to worry about other than the brake line and the obvious spring problem. What fuel pressor regulator should I use? How should I rig up the fuel pump relay to come on with the key without the LB8 computer?
---
For 700R4 to T5
Anything to watch out for... will the speedo cables drop into place, all the cables line up? Drive shafts the same length? How does the clutch adjustment go once it's in, cable routing, pedal feel? Ect..?
---
Should I drop a cam in the LG4 while it's out.... it would make sense right?
And yes, both cars run and drive, and will be right next to each other during the swap... Mine is an 85 LB8, the other is an 87 LG4.
I would like to know specifics, anything to help this along and make it easier... any do's or don'ts... Ect.... Just anything you can add...
Yes the swap in total will be LB8/700R4 to LG4/T5.

not this ******* again
we keep banning him, but he keeps on regsitering
PAY NO ATTENTION TO HIM, FOR WE WILL BAN HIM, AGAIN
For the love of ***, don't put a slow LG4 in there! There's no point to swapping your 130 HP V6 for a 150 HP V8. Get a 350 and some decent heads on it first.
As far as the auto to T5. Driveshaft will work, everything should drop it correctly IF you got every part you need.

oh yeah, i forgot that we'll need to change your springs
i dont have the tools for that, per say, but a few weeks after we do the engine swap, i'll get permission from my boss and me and another mechanic will do it after hours at work
you'll just have to drive around a few weeks with the V6 springs
so did you buy that LG4?
how many miles are on it?
is the motor in good shape?
YOU GOT THE BEST LG4 CHEVY EVER MADE!!!!!!
1987........roller cam 170HP
dont forget that we also need the fuel pressure regulator
MPFI pressure is way too high for a carbed engine
if you want my honest opinion, i'd say wait for the cam until you can afford some nice heads too
get the cam, heads, and intake manifold all at once
instead of the cam, consider a performance clutch while the engine and trans are out...........really easy to do then
clutch is not adjustable on these cars
its hydraulic so it works only one way
we need the LG4's radiator too

I'm swapping in the LG4 because I can get the entire running car for 100-200 dollars, and my V6 is probably only making half the power it should and is going south...
And no, I still havn't gotten it... I'm calling her today.
And 'f' the springs, I like the lowered-in-the-front stance...

Erik, your awesome dude!!!!!!!!
lemme know when you get the car and we'll start the project
please though, while we are swapping, consider a high performance clutch
you might want to also consider new motor mounts
plus you NEED the fuel pressure regulator
not too shabby to swap to a V8

replacing the springs is a good idea... You'll have oatmeal handling w/ the v6 springs because the srping rates are too low for the added weight
