Can I change this...
My mechanic installed new chrome valve covers for me when he changed my gaskets. On the pass. side is a small breather element withy holes in the bottom of it. When I drive the car I get smoke from these holes whenever I stop.
Question: Can I change this to just a plain oil cap?
The drivers side has my PCV in it. I have a LG4 with carb.

the reason u see smoke is because of the blowby past rings, valve guides, etc. All engines have soem blowby. When the car stops, the pcv shuts to allow the engine to idle and hence it stops taking up the fumes in the crank case. Leave the breather there.
