car is acting weird at WOT......

well i went on a trip this last week and i was cruising on the highway in OD doing bout 65-70, then the time come for me to nail it to get in front of some cars so im not stuck in slow traffic........i nail it and the car proceded to downshift into third and take off good,, then all of a sudden after thr rpms' got to about 2500 it desided to downshift back to 3rd and start all over,, and it kept doing this till i let off the pedal. i dont know if this is a engine problem or a tranny problem, thats y i posted in the GENERAL area..any help please?

also, i desided to "uncap" my exhaust with a cut out and go crusin on the back country roads.....well it was running fine till the higher RPM's,, but i know i need to put in some differant hangers and all rods to get more fuel....but then all of a sudden it seemed like my engine turned off for a second,,,then it wound back up and took off......waht gives??

Sounds like a misadjusted TV cable.

i hope its that. im gonna have to order a new one or something casue when you press the button in and push the cable all the way in, then turn your throtle to WOT, the black thing just slieds all the way out and when i drive it like that it sucks *****. i was thinking about changing the shift kit and all that with newer stuff as well. i hope its some thing small like the TV cable and not a internal problem.

If the cable just slides out, not ratcheting, then it is bad.

the cable itself is bad? or just the ratcheting part? iv had to "self adjust" that thing one click at a time and iv got it to where it runs the best under part throtle.....but cant find the best all around. do the cables stretch? looks like im gonna be ordering a new cable soon.

The ratcheting part is a part of the whole cable assembly, if it no longet ratchets, then it is bad.

Well the "ratchets" are what keep the cable from moving in and out, so if you had it adjusted per the instructions, then when you let the throttle close the cable adjustor would slide back into the housing, effectivly negating your adjustment.

The cable is attatched to the right side of the trans near where the dipstick tube goes in.

right side as in passenger side im assuming...im wiating for a dude to email me back about a new cable, and im good to go. also do you think i shoud instal a shift kit?? the tranny came with a shift kit in it and it worked pretty good till the engine swap when my TV cable went wacko. i can get a transgo kit for dirt cheap....but i dont know whats already in it....or if it will work fine as is after the cable swap.
