Headlight upgrades?

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I figured I'd just stick it here since it says tech/general Anyways... what headlight upgrades are there for our cars? I saw one guy that did a 'xenon' upgrade. His lowbeams had this blue look to them when they were off. Just last night I saw something on Speed channel, they were these new sylvania lights... forgot the name... star something, not sure. They are filled with xenon gas or something, but they aren't full xenon, they installed one on the passenger side of a WRX and left the drivers side stock. The new sylvania looked way brighter. Is there just some different headlight I can buy and switch out that will be a little brighter? Anybody???

I have an '87 Z with the fog/driving lights. It only looks really good at night with the driving lights on, with just the low beams it's prettty dim. Is there anything available to brighten up these olde skool lights?

Also, it's not illegal to have your fog/driving lights on when you're driving with your low beams right? Someone was telling me it was... now I'm just not sure. I thought it was just illegal to have them on with the highbeams, that's why they turn themselves off when u switch on high beams.....

not sure about the head light up grades. as for the laws, check in your state to be sure as a rule you're allowed a total of 4 white lights on at a time facing forward, however it may be seen as not dimming your lights if you run your low beams and fog lights. not dimming lights is a good way to get pulled over to be checked for a stolen car if you're driving a gm.

Welp, I got some of the 'Cool Blue' sylvania ones. They are definitely better than the stock ones. Gonna go driving later tonight to see how much of a difference they made. I felt stupid, I was trying to figure out why the ones I took out were 2 prong and the new ones were 3... hehehe, then I was thinking "Hrm... the box said low beams......I took out the inside pair... aw crap...." I was trying to put my low beams in the high beams.... hehehe

Summit has some new wiring harness kits that allow you to put higher wattage lights in place of the stockers. It includes relays etc so the higher current doesn't fry anything like your switches, etc. I think they were located just before the rice-boy section in their catalog.
