Do i need a new gas tank???
I just bought my second camaro, a 91 z28 350....
my reason for thinking i need a new tank is as follows:
the car runs out of gas before the gauge says empty and when full does not read full on the gauge. When i only have about 4-5 gallons left and make hard turns or take off hard the car dies but comes back to life when the gas centers itself in the tank.
I also hear the tank making a popping noise, like when you push something metal in and it pops out....i have heard that when i take the cap off on the tank and release pressure and when filling up the tank.....
my guess is the baffling has gone bad which is causing no gas to be held around the fuel pump during hard turns, and doest allow the little bobber in the tank to drop down or come up enought to get a poper reading for the gauge????
anyone else had this problem??????
also when i ran completly out of gas i was only able to pump 13.5 when my manual says i have a 15.5 gallon tank....although i have read on the board that thats pretty common????
when i call the local parts store to get a new tank the say they only have a 14 and 15 gallon tank for my car.....is that 15 gallon one right and i just have a .5 reserve or something??????
anyways....thanks in advance for the help.....

the gas gauge doesnt go past 1/4 a tank when empty and 3/4 a tank when full.....
i assumed if the sending unit was bad it just wouldnt work at all or would be off on one end of the gauge, not both....
