You go to check out a "for sale" ad on a Firebird. You look inside the car and see an automatic shifter. You look under the hood and see Tuned port injection. You think to yourself, this could be an L98 car; but the option code sheet is missing. Sooo, how can you tell whether this is a tpi 350 or just a 305?

behind the driver side cylinder head, on the block. wires can be in the way, and it could be a pita, but that is one of the places, there are a couple more

Or, scrape the gunk off the passenger side head, just behind the water pump. There is a small pad there where the last digits of the VIN number are stamped (vehicle sequence number). Those numbers should match the last ones on the VIN if it is the original motor. And like the others said, 8 in the VIN.
