Choosing between a double snorkel air cleaner and an open element one

I have the stock double snorkel air cleaner on my car right now. The only problem is it rubs the hood when I close it. I was just wondering which performs better, an open element air cleaner or my daul snorkel. I am going to get the drop base if I get one, so it doesnt hit. But, it barely rubs, so if it will not help my performance I will stick with this one.

That's a total no-brainer. The open element sucks in hot, non-dense air. The dual snorkel unit will win every time, by 5% or so HP usually, if it's cold-air.

The worst thing you can do is use a "drop-base"... look how close they come to the top of the carb air horn and you'll never even consider it again... look how close the top of your L69 unit is to the carb now, and imagine dropping the lid even lower {insert sounds of motor gasping for breath here}

I agree

Stick with the dual snorkle. I put one one mine and then decided to put my LG4 lid on it because it gives more top space than the H.O. lid.

I got the email, and I am only about 1 hour away from this. Not sure if I will be able to come, gotta wait and see. If I do I will probably end up bringing my 5yr old son, who loves cars, but might get board. Anyone else bring there kids there.

One guy said if he can make it, he'll be bringing his wife and kid. You could always show up a little later, there are 2 others that won't get there till 3 or so.
