3005 Can't Be Moded?

Hi all I just got a 92 rs with a 305 in it. At the dealer said that my 305 could not be modded. I told him I wanted to rebuild it. Bore stroke so on. He said that there was nothing I could do with a 305 blcok. And also that I couldn't put a 350 in my rs. I this true? Thanx

Just do a search of 305 in this forum. You'll find no end of good stuff to do with the 305

thats BS there is nothing that says you can't work on the 305.
the same headers to exaust that go on the 350 will usually fit on the 305. plus there is a ton of stuff out there for it. ANY engine can be modded.
can't put a 350 in?
thats I'm doing that right now...well the dealer is doing it.
i ran into a guy in a prostreet camaro that had a 424 in it. insane looking beast!!!!!!

PS welcome to the board

Anyone who tells you you cant put a 350 in an f body car is a complete moron. You can put just about anything you want under that hood and the car will be happy as long as its done right.

Then again, if you live in California you might have some problems, depending what mods you want to do.

Where do you live?

Any dealership and most machanics arent going to tell you how to modify your car unless its just to fix a problem. If you want to modify it for performance you need to go to someplace like a speedshop or something. 454 in a f body isnt easy from what i hear. I say stay small block. a SB 400 would be plenty badass enough id say.

You are probably OK then. California has some strict laws about not even being able to change engine size, from what I've heard.

454 in a camaro

There have been a few people on this board that have gone BB. I remember reading about one that was still able to close the stock hood and I remember reading somewhere that the bolt holes for BB engine mounts were already in our frames.

Anything can be done it just takes time and money. (Sometimes you can trade one for the other)

The Olds engine was a 403 offered from 77-79, considered a smallblock. Not good for hiperf use.

Chevy put a 502 in a Camaro a few years back, like about 12 or more. They had to "massage" the firewall with a sledge hammer, loose the A/C and run without a hood. Also it was a carbed engine, they didn't have FI for BB's then.
