oilpan
ok guys i am puttin a 350 in my 89 bird and i am in the process of takin out the 305 and i noticed that the 305 had these metal strips in the chanel that the bolts go i guess to help it seal better or wutever. well i didn;t use these on the 350 i just put on my one peice oilpan gasket and bolted it on with some summit bolts, now should i take these off and put them on the 350 or should i not worry about it? thanks oh yea and does anyone know the best way to put the seal on the timing chain cover that the balencer slips into? cause i realized the chrome cover i got have the mark on the side and not on the top so i gotta use the one from the 305 so is there and easier way besides and hammer and a socket lol thankls
i'd use the metal strips, but if it's in the car it maybe more work that you'd want to get into for a small gain, if any in the sealing ability. i always used the hammer and block of wood method to install the frong seal, not sure if it's better than the hammer and socket method.

yea i'm just gonna leave the pan alone cause them bolts are pretty close together. i think i am gonna try to block of wood thing this time cause last time i used a socket i got a little dent but i think it would still seal fine but i'd rather do it rigth ya know. well thanks
