What are good gauges to have? What gauges do YOU have?

I'm thinking about getting the tripple pillar gauge for my car, what are some good gauges to have that our cars don't have already? I was thinking maybe fuel pressure, but I think there was a recall on autometer fuel pressure gauges or something... Are our gauges fairly accurate? I was thiking about a oil pressure 0-100psi, fuel pressure 0-100psi(but then I think there was that recall... correct me if I'm wrong) and either water temperature 140*-280*F, or else an Air/Fuel for *****~n~giggles...

What gauges are you guys running? Any thoughts or suggestions would be great guys....

Speedo, fuel level, tach

The 3 under the vent are H2O, oil press., volts.

I am running Auto Meter gauges under my cowl on my hood. if you plan on running gauges inside your car then you will should get electrical ones. Itis not too safe to run the mechanical ones inside the car. I have a fuelpresure oilpressure and water temp gauge. i think those are the 3 most important.
And rememeber, you get what you pay for so those $20 cheapo gauges might not last long. but then again i spent $60 on my fuel pressure gauge and its broke already after 1 month. i should check into that recall your talking about

I have a dual with fuel pressure and boost. Not boosting yet though.

How did you connect your Speedo Gauge in to work at the correct speeds? Also what did you use for the background to your gauges, that plastic.

all auto meter, tach, shift lite, fuel level, volts, a/f, water temp, fuel preasure,vacumn, oil preasure, and line lock indiactor (little light bulb) i have idiot lites on my water and oil, above the gauges

I have 5.

Autometer: Air/Fuel Ratio (especially important with N20)
Vacuum (carbureted, and I have a lot of vacuum problems)

Other guages: Oil Pressure, Battery, Oil Temp

I wanted to get a transmission temp guage pretty bad because I just had my tranny redone and I didn't want it to get overheated again. Any of these guages are good and will give you a better overview of your car.

The speedo is electronic. I just took the 2 wires from the VSS on the trans, and connected them as per the instructions. After that you just have to mark off a 2 mile stretch to calibrate the speedo. The panel is made of 18 gauge steel. If I were to do this again, I would use aluminum, or maybe even thicker steel. The plasma cutter warped the steel a little. With all those holes, it is very hard to get it flat again.

why is it 'not too safe' to run mechanical gauges? i thought they were supposed to be more precise/accurate than the others?

well with mechanical ones the fluid flows through the gauge itself and if its in the car like oil for example and there was a slit in the very thin tubing its all over your carpet and possibly your leg so when u get in to work u are the laughing stock of the building for looking like u walked through a big *** sewage container at a crap plant. trust me ive been there but in school

Also, I have another question... The oil pressure electrical auto meter sport comp says it includes sender, would this be replacing my stock sender or what? Would I lose the stock gauge in the dash? I'm a little confused....

I have the Lo Tek(out of business) A pillar 3 pod with Autometer guages. I have the water temp(since our cars overheat), oil pressure (since it is the life blood of the car) and tach (since my car didn't have one). My original temp and oil "idiot lites" work also so I have double coverage. I had it installed at the dealer(took 'em 2 days but worth it since it works perfectly) but I believe the oil sender can be hooked to the original sender because both my lite and Autometer guage work at the same time.

Like someone else said, "You get what you pay for". Buy Autometer, which in my opinion is better than OEM.

Also it is hard sometimes to find or you may have to order the right size guages for the pillar pods. But once they are up and running it looks sweet and is well worth the money.
