junkyard and an engine

how much would a junkyard give me for a brand new 305 with an edelbrock carb and intake.

They might take it off your hands if you pay them enough...

Nobody wants a 305 in the junk world, they have millions of them that get crushed every day. Sorry to say, it's just not worth anything on the open market.

I'd recommend taking the carb & intake off and sellling them in the classifieds on this site, and sell the rest of the motor in your local newspaper, and be prepared to wait a long time for a buyer.

ill just tell them its a 350. they wont be able to tell. untill they pull the heads off, but by then ill be long gone.

Timming is everything. I sold my 305 for $400. I put an ad in our local penny saver and the phone rang off the hook for days. I had guys offering to up the price if I'd back down on a previous seller. All in all, it was rediculous. Write your ad like this: "Low milage 305 small-block with performance upgrades". Guys looking to replace their worn out 350's for cheap will call.
