What kind of cam?
I am building a 350. It is going to be carbed. I already have the intake and carb and I just got headers. I need a new cam and I am wondering what kind I should get? I want power from the hole and through mid rpm's since I don't get into the high rpm's much. What kind of specs should I look for in a cam? Thanks!

we're going to need a little more info
Is this your daily driver?
Is it an auto trans?
Is there computer control or emission testing?
Are you the only driver?
Are there plans to use a stall converter (for auto trans)?

A dual pattern hydraulic with about 220 duration at .050" lift on the intake side on a 112 LSA would make a nice power improvement but not be too wild, IMO. A dual plane (preferably hi-rise like a Stealth or Perf RPM) would go nicely. Also, since hydraulics don't have the sweet hi-lift #'s like the roller types, 1.6 ratio arms will help. Of course you can retro-fit to roller, but that's kinda pricey. Everone has different tastes when it comes to cams though...

The new Crane PowerMax 266 and 272 cams fit the bill very nicely. The 272, for instance, will produce 10 more hp and even more torque than a Comp XE262, throughout the powerband.
That is the result of the latest technology and research on the part of Crane. It appears to be a deliberate targeting of Comp on Crane's part.
Comp's XE grinds are now, by definition, "obsolete" technology. (But they are still pretty darned good cams!)
The Edelbrock Performer RPM intake is difficult to fit under the hood of a 3rd gen. Better off with a Performer or Stealth.

performer rpms will not normally fit under third gen hoods
but.. they can with a drop base aircleaner.
Not having seen any dynos of crane cams (other than the ones crane provides) I still like comps, Xe262 or 268 would be fine.
