Gas Filler Neck, can it be replaced???
My gas filler neck is bent out of shape on my '91, the cap can't seat right and it leaks. It happened before I bought the car. Does anybody know if just a filler neck can be replaced or does the whole tank have to be replaced?
I'm going to go check on that recall for the '91/92s to see if mine is in that recall. Even if it is I don't know if they will replaced it since it's damaged.

WTF? What good will that do me? I pretty sure it's all one peice, I just want to know if there is a method of cutting it off and putting another on.

Well I can't find a replacement filler neck. The thing I think could be done safely and cheaply
is to use a pipe cutter like you cut condiut with. Cut the end of the filler tube off, cut one off of another tank, then get a peice of rubber hose or some kind of pipe just the perfect size so that the end of the new neck's tube and the old tubes end can slide in. Then just use two hose clamps on it and that should do it.
Only problem is getting a good filler neck, and getting enough room to cut the end of the tube off. Plus I don't have a pipe cutter that big. Oh well, I'm gonna sell that car anyway.

I don't know - stock gas tanks are not that pricey, and a tank at a junk yard is even cheaper.
Sounds like someone had to remove it to replace - say a fuel pump, and bent the **** out of it putting it back in.
That's the biggest turd about removing & installing the gas tank is getting the filler neck out & back into place.
The the higher you get the car the easier it is. <- Thats my tip... Oh yea, get it as light as you can...@ 6 pounds per gallon, it gets heavy.

They had just replaced the fuel pump. I found fuel pump instructions in the hatch. I might replace the tank, I don't know. I don't really want to. I would have replaced the filler neck if there was a kit for something for it. I'll probably just sell the car if I can. If it doesn't sell I'll be under there putting a new tank in.
