valve ticking or spark knock?

valve ticking or spark knock?
hey everyone,i have a ticking noise coming from under the drivers side valve cover it sounds like it is coming from near the back, by the firewall. how do i know if it is a valve or spark knock?
and how can i fix it?

At idle? Most likley a rocker arm or exhaust leak. Rarely can you hear "spark knock" at idle..or even in park/neutral while revving the engine.
