Cam Swap Info...

Hey i didn't know where to post this, so here it goes...does anyone have any good links to sites with detailed instructions, and pictures dealing with a cam swap, on a Gen 1 small block of course...305. I've never done it before and i wanna try it soon...can anyone help me out a little...maybe you know of a good video, or book you can buy somewhere on cam swaps?!?! anyone information would be greatly appreciated, Thanks a lot guys...

I'm sure the experts on here can help you quite a bit.

I'll give you a few pointers. When the intake/dist is off, put a rag in the dist hole, you don't want anything falling in there. Also buy/rent a harmonic balancer puller. Autozone lets you borrow them and gives the money back when you return it.
When sliding the cam out be extremely careful not to knick a cam bearing.

Hey thanks again(also for the other reply, in case you only read this one and you think i'm crazy or something haha)all noteworthy information for sure, although the swap will not be for another month or so...i wanted to get started now, on the homework part of the deal...like i said this will be my first time doing this, and i wanna do it right, i was hoping you might know of a site or two, or maybe a book i could go pick up to do some reading....but when the time comes when i'm doing the swap, i'm sure you guys can walk me right through it...thanks!

Damn! I had a good link that had steps and pix to show you what you up against and what to expect. Its on another pc here at work that crashed. Damn things crash left and right around here. Well I got it from going to www.google.com and typing in "installing a cam" I'll see if I can find it for ya. Just dont do what one of my freinds did. "leave the cam out to long and get dirt everywhere." That engine didnt last to long. Just dont do what one of my freinds did. "leave the cam out to long and get dirt everywhere." I wouldnt leave the engine without a cam for more than a hour to be safe. Pop that batch in asap after the old once it is removed. That engine didnt last to long
