I have a few questions
first off i was wondering if anybody could give me a few pointers on converting a b&m megashifter to use stock shifting cables, ive been doing some research and wanted to see what i get here, and second of all my car makes this funny clicking sound when i accelerate and i think it might be the u joints, so is there any way i can tell if it is the u joints? also i see alot of people have taken out their a/c, my a/c's compressor is broken so i was thinking about just takeing it out (i figured if i have lasted through summer this long i could last through anything) anyway i was wondering is it worth takeing out the a/c and how hard is it to do it. If anybody could give me some minor performance mods that dont require alot of money that would be nice, because i want my 305 to run a little better but iam in the process of gettting a 406 right now, so most of my money gose to that, all the help is greatly apreciated, Thanks
i dont think u can use the stock shifter cable for the megashifter b&m sells them @ summit http://store.summitracing.com/partde...sp?part=10193. the ac isnt hard to take out, but if you want to do i right pick up a AC delete pully (search the boards for a place to find one) then just rip out all the ac s*th you see. and for some easy performace mods pick up a open element (tbi-card) or a a cold air intake from k&n.

I used the stock cable. You have to cut the bracket off the stock shifter and drill a hole to bolt it to the new shifter.
any certain reason you wanna use the stock cable??
I put in B&M shifters in my camaro and firebird and used the supplied cable w/o any problems so far. Unless you are really against crawling around and getting a bit dirty, it's pretty simple...adjusting isn't bad either.

I also used the supplied cable..took a little while to adjust, but I haven't had any problems. Took about 6 hrs to install the shifter.

yeah there are people here that claim the shifter cable is absolute junk and will break....as of yet, i have haven't had it break on me yet. My brother also had a Megashifter in his old truck and that cable never broke either. I figure a brand new cable is less likely to break than a cable that has been in a 10+ year old car.
