Power loss.. err...

well looks like my car decided to pull another one of it's many tricks today and now it's not putting out the power it had earlier in the day..
Btw my car is a 82 T/a... anyways when i pin it to the floor it falls flat on it's face almost.. thats where the prob is, in the higher RPMs.. at idle the idle rests a 700 or so with no problem. i have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plug wires, new airfilter recently and spark plugs about a year ago. now my car does burn oil. i'll put that on the record. i checked to see if the secondarys are opening on the carb and they are. and the cat is not clogged because it is gutted.. now i figure all the cylinders are firing because it still has that nice rumble to it.. sounded a little differnt when i floor it in the high rpm's.. does'nt have the sound you get when the secondarys fire open, that nice rasp. hmm if anyones got any ideas that would be great.. could timing be off? could these year old spark plugs be fouling up with oil already? thanks guys

I was going to say check the plugs, but if it idles okay, I don't know. I would change them, since they are only $1.50 a piece, I change mine often. Check the timing also. Have you tried any fuel injector cleaner or anything???Maybe your injectors or carb is starting to clog or somethin. My wifes silverado did somethin like that and it was the fuel filler neck and clogged injectores. A 2000 silverado with clogged injectorsWTF. But then again, it did have over 50,000 miles on it and you know how most women are with maintenance. This was right as I was meeting her, now I do the maintenance on our 2002 s-10 crew cab and my 84 z28 of course. Good luck!!!

Buy a good bottle of fuel injector cleaner and pour in on a full tank of gas and run it through. Or you could always go in and pay the dealership $200.00 to do the same. SOme shops will hook it up and run there cleaner through it which is better, but I think that would be around 100 or so.

well i mite as well try some of that pour in the gas tank stuff, yea never know.. if for some reason if the timing was off, would this set the idle to be a little rough? or are the signs more in the gas pedel? im gonna rip each plug out tomorrow to take a look. cars are funny, it can be something so simple that can set them off.. so its safer to check the little things first. i'll post back tomorrow if she's still acting up with hopefully more info on the situation. thanks again guys
