?will 350 rods work in a 305?

hey guys im ni the middle of rebuilding a 305 block out of a 91 caprice. so far i have it all tore down. should i just put the rods back in it that it has now? or should i put a set of pre 1980 350 rods in it. which will give me the most power? or are they both the same rods? im gonna leave the block stock bore and have it magnafluxed and have the crank cleaned up and get new pistons put in it.

put the 305 rods back in it, there's notihng to be gained power wise by using 350 rods.

They're both longer. And shorter too.

They're both 5.7" long.

The 305 rod has less metal in the beam, except for the ones in L69s, in which case it may have X rods (mine did) which were also the best ones in 350s up until the LT1. They are the same length, the same width, the same bore diameters, everything is the same except the 305 rods are lighter and weaker. Which means you could build either engine with either one, but the engine with 305 rods will run the same, blow up a little easier at high RPM, get slightly better gas mileage, and (here's the real deal) cost less to mass-produce.
