'91 RS, I've got the dash off for some speaker replacement, and I noticed a couple of wires running to the underside of the dash between the center heater ducts and the lighter, and when I investigated further, it looks like there is a little light there. Does anyone know what it's for? It really looks like an idiot light, not a map light or something like that.

I noticed this light too. I think it's to illuminate the ash tray. It's a pretty weak attempt at best.

Has anyone had to change thisn lite mine does not work........can you change it from the front of the dash or from underneath????

 

Mine comes on with the headlights (I think).

You can either remove the dash pad or remove the plastic plate from the underside of the dash in order to replace the bulb (IIRC).

It's kind of a stupid fiber optic kind of affair

 

mine is always on, and i dunno wtf it is for

 

mine comes on with the light, I always thought it was the light for the heat panel (mine doesn't light up, I think its supposed too)

 

mine is attached to the dimmer switch.
