Towing with towbar
Towing with towbar
I am getting out of the Air Force, (going back home to help run dads body shop and staying reserves) and need to tow my camaro back to IL. It is about a 2500mi treck and I am going to tow the camaro behind my grand cherokee. I need to know if it is possible to get a tow bar on a thirdgen without wrecking the front spoiler. If so, can you all recomend a tow bar company? Or will any one work with the right adapters?

since you have a t5, (i assume we are talking about the car in your sig)
using a tow bar would be ok, but there is really no way to make one work cuz of the plastic bumper.
a tow dolly on the other hand, would work, just be carefull not to catch your ground effects when putting the car on it, incase you aren't familiar, a tow dolly carries one end of the car, usually the front, so there is no tongue weight to worry about. places like uhaul, and other truck renters usually have them

Before I got my trailer I towed my car to the track with a towbar.
I removed the fog lights and fabricated towbar mounts that sat about where the lights would have been. The mounts were welded to the frame (not the bumber). Safety chains went under the spoiler to the hold down holes in the frame.
It was only a couple of miles to the track and not at highway speeds so there was no problems with the tranny. If I had to haul a long distance I pulled the driveshaft off.
For a 2500mi journey you should just rent a car trailer.
