won't restart
won't restart
Have 89 I-ROC 350 TPI auto. Car will start and run fine after sitting but will not restart until it sits for 10-20 minutes. Does not matter if it runs for 30 minutes or 3 seconds, it won't restart without waiting.
I have replaced plugs, cap, rotor, idle air control and throttle position sensor. Anyone out there had a similar problem?
Thanks

I have a similar problem. My fuel injectors do not spray when hot, and I've done a lot of work and come up with nothing.
Have you tried starting the car with starting fluid? Checked for spark when it's hot? Could be many things, get back to us after you've looked into it.

Plenty of spark. I can smell fuel, not a whole lot but if it was in the old days I might think it was flooded. Car turns over fine. It doesn't have to be hot, it just won't start a second time. I can start it and turn off immediately or let it run for 1/2 hr it doesn't matter.
Red,
I didn't presume that the problem was the fuel pump. However, with a pressure gauge you can diagnose regulator or injector leakage (either of which can cause flooding on shut-down).
Presuming that you have adequate spark and have excecss fuel ("Plenty of spark. I can smell fuel..."), you may have regulator or injector leakage. After a protrtacted shut down, the excess fuel has an opportunity to evaporate, allowing a "normal" start and run cycle.
I was just askin'...
