do i need a new prom with auto to t-56 swap?
do i need a new prom with auto to t-56 swap?
i know that with the stock chip it the ECM will try to lock up the T.Q. and might throw a trouble code. but i read something somewhere that I might have a rough idle because of incorrect readings from the VSS or something like that. i don't mind the check engine light if it is only for the T.Q. not being there. but i don't wanna drive it if it will idle rough until i get it fixed..

Opps... didnt see you had a 5.7L, i dont think they made proms for the 5.7L with a manual t-5 but i could be wrong. The vss deal does seem to have some validity to it. The computer seems to open the iac to smooth the transition from part to closed throttle under braking untill the car comes to a stop.

FWIW, a girl I used to date had a '91 Z28 auto and sold the chip to a guy that had a '92 Z28 5 spd. He didn't have a lik of trouble, ever. No codes, no rough idle, nothin.
I know his ECM didn't have the means for a TC lockup since his car never had one, but I would think that's all controlled by the chip.
