zz4 cam
It should as long as your 87 block is machined for the roller cam. There will be three bosses tapped in the middle of the lifter valley and two holes drilled at the front of the block behind the cam gear.
I am assuming you don't have the LB9 with roller cam so to use the factory roller system with the zz4 cam you would have to get the factory hydraulic lifters with the hold down bars and the spider to hold them in place. That's what the tapped bosses are for.
I have seen the whole set-up sell on e-bay for anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars. Or you could probably use aftermarket retro fit lifters with link bars but I am not 100% sure on that.
Also it would probably be a good idea to get the springs recommended for the zz4 cam from gm. I don't think they are to expensive. Check out this site for prices. https://www.spoperformanceparts.com/

zz4 cam
my block is a roller block I was wondering how the zz4 cam would perform in a 305with ported heads. Does anyone have a clue. Does anyone have the specs on the zz4 cam and is it compatible to a crane or comp cam and if anyone knows which cam it is compatible with. Thanks
GM's ZZ4 cam (GM part # 10185071)
