I have a '88 2.8 V6 MPFI Camaro. My tachometer stays on 5000 rpm. When i turn the ignition on it goes up to about 5500 rpm. I turn the ignition off again and it goes back to 5000 rpm, all without starting the engine....... Anyone any ideas. .

 

It's broken.

Get another one. There's plenty of 6-cyl tachs for these cars at junkyards.

 

Thanks.... Not many 6 Cylinder's here in England ( most are Z28's), will probably have to order one from the U.S.......

You got one of those cheater black boxes hooked up to your tach so you can run your dial in at the drag strip, don't ya?
