Good Automotive Books?

Camaro Repair Related? (aside from Haynes stuff, thank you)

Engine Work Related? (block, piston, crank, heads, cams, etc.)

Car Tuning Related?

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Anything by David Vizard or Alex Walordy is a good place to start. Lots of practical stuff you can use on your next project.

gm repair manuals are awesome. i think they're made by helms? not sure. they're pricey but i've found that my local library can get most of them, along with any other automotive manual, for free.

DO NOT waste you money on any book that says it's "Camaro" specific for 3rd or 4th gens. I've done this twice now and all they say is "Buy a cat-back and put it on. Buy a K&N and put in on. Buy a Hypertech Chip and put it on." Blah Blah Blah.

And just think, I could have made $250K on the publish day of MY book had I thought about doing what they did.

The only half *** one I've seen (as opposed to full ***) are the ones that deal with suspension. There's a lot of potential in a 3rd gen f-body's chassis/suspension.

As RB said, get the ones by David Vizard. The publisher's name is CarTech. You can find them (or have them order them) and Barnes and Noble. My wife works there so I get a 30% discount.

Thanks for the tips! I've never even heard of Walordy.. and I saw someone mentioning Vizard when there was a discussion on head porting...

How would you rate Smokey Yunick's books?

They're OK.

He's a little to vague IMO. States the obvious mostly. Like if you want a drag car, use a big motor. If you want a road coarse car, use a light, good gas milage engine, etc.

Good reading though.
