Going to the Junkyard on Sat, what should I get?
The U Wrench It where I live is having a grand opening sale on Sat. Anything you can carry, $29.99.
What valuable, possibly overlooked stuff should I be on the lookout for? I'm bringing my friend from school who works out every day, cause I'm not sure what they mean by "carry."
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Homer
P.S. How do I tell a th400 from a 350 or 700? And a 400 sbc has two freeze plugs per side instead of 3, right?

A 400 has a pan shaped kind of like an oven mitt, or like Texas. The others have square pans.
Nearly all small blocks have 2 freeze plugs in the side of the block. A 4-bolt (early) 400 has 3. They quit doing that about the time they quit using 4-bolt caps in them, but not all at once; a few with 4-bolt caps have only 2, and a few 2-bolt ones have 3.
Any part of one of these cars is worth money. A non-AC heater box would be worthwhile; any rear end from 90 up cars, especially with disk brakes; etc.
Think of things that are worn out on your car. Everybody else's the same things are worn out too. If you see ones that aren't worn out, get them.

What's that webpage where you can buy stuff from junkyards across the country? That'd be good for some price checking.

ECM's! I haven't even thought of that! What cars are those 747, 730, and 165 in? What should I take with them, wiring harnesses and whatnot?
165 is in 85/86 - 89 TPI cars.
730 is in 90-92 TPI cars. And also in late 80's V6 F-bodies, Cavaliers, lots of different models. An F-body wiring harness could sell for a lot on Ebay, since that is the best to use for a port fuel injection setup.
747 is in 87-92 astro vans, pickups, it's the truck TBI. A full wiring harness and ECM is very desirable because a lot of guys use it to convert their old cars to TBI style fuel injection.
746 is the F-body TBI, also quite useful.
LOL, how much time do you have to spend at the junkyard, you could make a lot of money.
