Value Of Non Working Camaro
Value Of Non Working Camaro
As much as I dont want to I have to get rid of my camaro cause Im broke. Heres The Deal I took apart the top of the engine to replace the head gaskets. Anyway In the process of doing that the hardlines the goto the throttle body were seen as trash and thrown away (thanks mom). So anyway I have everything for the engine minus the fuel lines. This is a Red 89 Rs model with a 305 with around 165000 miles. It has Edelbrock Tes Hedders a 3 inch catco cat, 3 inch edelbrock catback, Edelbrock Tbi intake, Pst front end rebuild, Subfame connectors which i will get installed, kyb agx adjustable stuts, new radiator, good tires. Pioneer Cd player, Polk Dx9 6x9s in the back. The body has a few minor dings and the paint is faded. Im just wondering what some of you might pay for this?
oh ya forgot to say the engine is all put together and Im pretty sure it will run with fuel lines. I cant find any thats the only reason I havent done it.

The worst thing you can do is give up and sell it as a pile of junk like it now is.
Next better thing is to part it out.
Best thing is to put it back together and drive it; or sell it. Although, that kind of car isn't worth much as a car, you could probably get more for the parts over a period of time than you could for the whole car; except you'd have to wait for somebody to want each individual piece. Best is to use it and get your money's worth.
There's no sense whatsoever in junking a whole car over some vacuum line. That's just plain defeatist stupidity. You can go to CSK, or Advance, or Auto Zone, and get all those little ends and fittings, and some bulk plastic line; or just put it back together with rubber line; it all works the same. Don't throw the car away just for that.

I dunno what the big deal is about your fuel lines. Any junkyard that has a TBI fbody should have then, most places that make tubes/hoses should be able to make them, any TBI truck lines can be used although you will have to cut the bottem section but altleast it get you half way there.
As far as the value it's very interesting how much difference location makes when selling one. I pulled up into autozone the other day and seen an 87 TT TPI camaro for sale. The outside was thrashed I'm not talking small dings and faided paint, the doors and fenders were shot the interior was gone. I asked the teenage owner how much, he told me 3k, I almost droped a load. He told me that the car has had alot done to it,
I just said good luck.

I think most of us here are trying to tell you that you are preparing to throw away a huge amount of money by being lazy and un-motivated. Bad things happen to all of us when working on our cars sometimes; that's no excuse to just throw in the towel and give up.
If you sell your car in the condition it is now in, it will bring probably close to $1000 less than it would if it was running. Can you explain to yourself how that is "saving money"? I certainly couldn't convince myself of such a lie as that. If you really need the money like you say you do, then go borrow a hundred dollars or whatever those lines cost, even pawn something if you have to, and go to the dealer and buy those lines, re-assemble the car, and then sell it. Put the $1000 difference in your pocket.
Try watching the classifieds on this site for those parts; or PM people on the carb board who are making a TBI-carb swap. Use your brain, don't just roll over and die because it seems the easy thing to do at the time.
