converting to a non cc carb

I have an 87 305 lg4 that I am rebuilding and plan to change the cc distributor with the older style HEI ignition my question is can the computer still be used for some of the functions like TC lockup and knock sensor and o2 sensor or is this idea out the window since I will no longer have the cc distributor or Carb

Without the computer you won't need the O2 sensor, and an LG4 has no knock sensor to begin with. You can however leave the computer wired to control the TC lockup, which is what many people who change to non CC carb do. However, if you disconnect the ECM from everything except the transmission, you will need to pull the check engine light bulb out, because the ECM will throw all kinds of trouble codes.

what about cooling

Does the ECM play a part in the cooling system I am curious since the car is equipped with the electric fan is the computer tied in some how and do I need to wire the TC any special way or leave it the way it is

If you want everthing else to be computer controlled that means your going to have to leave alot/all of the old wiring intact. With your expectations Id suggest leaving the CC carb in and just tweak it. The CC carb isnt a bad system and can be made to run quite well with very little expence compared to swapping every thing out especially if your going to swap a CC Q-jet for a non CC q-jet then theres no point.
