Anything a little more in depth? Will there be any problems? What about pushrod length?

yep...gonna need different length pushrods 'cuz roller lifters are 'taller'.

If you like the LT1 cam, why not just score one of those...should be plentiful over of CamaroZ28.com. Probably could land one for approx $30. I did, but then changed my mind and went with a LT4 HOT.

Good luck on your quest.

I don't think you can. The lifter bosses are different (shorter) which could cause a flat tappet lifter to bind. Also, the block is machined for the thrust bushing which could cause issues with a non roller cam chain.

Yeah, I thought there would be a problem with the lifter boss. I just wasn't too sure. Thanks again.

The reason you can't just Stab a roller cam in a non roller block is because of the lifters, there is nothing preventing them from spinning in the bores.

Why would the taller lifter bore cause the non roller lifter to bind? The only problem I see is it would be a giant PITA to remove the flat tappet lifters from the roller bores since the lifter would be recessed down inside it.

yes you can use a flat cam in a roller block like you've already been told. you'll need cam and lifters that match plus the correct push rods for your application and the correct non roller cam timing gear set and chain

After a few thousand miles, a magnet will not pull lifters out. Trust me, I have tried it many times. It will pull the lifter up off the cam a bit, but not all the way out. the problem is oil gunk builds up on the circumference of the lower portion of the lifter body which does not normally ride in the bore, and prevents it from easily pulling out. I have pulled plenty of lifters out, and all of them with very many miles do this. I always wind up having to grab the lifter with a pair of pliers to pull it out. So if this happens on a roller block with flat tappet lifters, you will not be able to pull the lifter up high enough with a magnet to get pliers on it.

i use a lifter puller to remove lifters, right tool for the job, doesn't matter if they're stuck, in the hole and inch or out of it an inch.

Big screwdriver and a hammer can fix any stubborn lifter problems.
